Mumbai: The Mumbai Port Authority has received five bids for its Rs 887-crore Viksit Bharat Mumbai marina project, to be developed through engineering, procurement and construction mode. The port authority will invest Rs 470 crore and the remaining will be invested by a private operator who will develop the onshore facilities.The project will come up to the east of 14 Victoria Docks in south Mumbai and will be spread over 14 hectares of water area. The marina will accommodate 424 yachts of up to 30m in length, making it one of the major such facilities in the country. The project also includes onshore construction and management of a terminal building (3,162sqm), a star hotel with 322 rooms (27,000sqm), a clubhouse (4,000sqm), a multi-level car park and tourism business centre (32,000sqm), a yacht repair yard and stack parking (10,000sqm), Namo Bharat Sailing School (1,060sqm), and recreation facilities. All these will be developed through public-private partnership. The bids were received from Cemindia Projects Ltd (Adani Group), Larsen & Toubro, RKEC Projects, SCC Infrastructure, and Vishwa Samudra Engineering Pvt Ltd. They will be finalised over the next three months, officials said. The marina’s completion is expected to take three years. The marina project was approved by the Union ministry of ports, shipping and waterways and is aligned with the Centre’s blue economy push.
