Gandhinagar: Various departments of the state government have been asked to identify and leverage announcements and schemes announced in the Union budget. The state finance department on Wednesday made a presentation at the cabinet meeting, proposing specific measures that can be taken by the state to leverage announcements made in the Union budget 2026-27 in the manufacturing, infrastructure, human development and skilling, tourism, health, employment, energy and power, agriculture and rural development sectors.With regard to the chemical parks scheme announced in the Union budget, the state finance department proposed creation of a dedicated chemical park in an existing industrial cluster such as Hazira or Ankleshwar. A proposal was also made to update the state’s semiconductor mission in line with the Union govt’s Rs 40,000 crore outlay for the semiconductor industry.The presentation said that other announcements of the Union budget that departments of the state government can benefit from include the Rs 500 crore outlay for Biopharma Shakti, Rs 500 crore outlay for sports goods manufacturing, Rs 40,000 crore outlay for electronics components manufacturing scheme, the Rs 10,000 crore outlay for container manufacturing, seaplane VGF scheme, Rs 1000 crore maritime development fund, Rs 1,500 crore outlay for the integrated textile programme, Rs 5,000 crore city economic regions programme outlay, pilot project of skilling programme at tourism sites and others. “A number of suggestions have been made by the finance department to the government after studying various announcements of the Union budget. Projects of several sectors in the state can benefit from the announcements made in the Central budget,” a senior officer said.
