Kolkata: A man, Amit Sardar, was arrested from Haridevpur on Monday for attempting to murder his wife, Mousumi Das, by slashing her neck with a razor on Jan 28. Police said Sardar tried to slash his neck as well in a failed suicide attempt.
Das, a caregiver, sustained serious injuries and is under treatment at SSKM. Priya Halder, 29, Das’s friend and a witness, lodged the complaint. Police said Sardar, Das and Halder were consuming alcohol when a quarrel broke out between the couple over a conjugal dispute.Halder attempted to stop the assault and suffered a deep injury to her palm. Cops have seized the weapon. Police said the couple had frequent arguments linked to Sardar’s suspicion that Das was having an affair. tnn
