Vadodara: An incident of alleged police excess involving a minor boy has sparked controversy in Mahisagar district.Police said an inquiry has been initiated into the matter.The alleged incident took place on Jan 29, when the boy was called to the police station along with his parents for questioning in connection with the theft of 400gm silver charan padukas (pious footprints) from a temple in a village of Balasinor taluka. The boy and his sister reportedly used to clean the temple as their mother, who was responsible for the task, was unwell.The boy was rushed to a hospital on Jan 30, where he claimed that he had been beaten up by the police. While he was shivering and had also vomited, doctors reportedly did not find any visible injury marks.Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Kamlesh Vasava told mediapersons that an inquiry is underway into the allegations.
