Lucknow: After applying to the UPCA for an NOC to play for Chhattisgarh, pacer Yash Dayal, who has been embroiled in controversy in recent times, has changed his mind and decided to stay with Uttar Pradesh. He is currently part of the UPCA Ranji Trophy probables camp at Green Park.He last played a first-class match for Uttar Pradesh in October 2024. The left-arm pacer represented Uttar Pradesh from 2018 to 2025, featuring in 27 first-class matches and taking 84 wickets. In List A cricket, he has 36 wickets from 23 matches, while in T20s, he has claimed 66 wickets in 71 games.Dayal was occasionally seen playing in the Ghaziabad Premier League in June 2026, where he picked up nine wickets in four matches. Before joining the UPCA selection camp, he had attended the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp ahead of IPL 2027. He has not played any competitive cricket since IPL 2025.UPCA selector Rizwan Shamshad, who is overseeing the camp, said, “Yash has joined the selection matches camp. He has rich experience in all formats and is doing well. In the current selection matches, his spells have been good and hopefully he will be in the squad again.”UPCA chief executive officer Ankit Chatterjee said Dayal had earlier sought a No Objection Certificate as he was considering a move to Chhattisgarh. “Yash had applied for an NOC as he was planning to move to Chhattisgarh. At that time, we were prepared to issue the NOC. However, during the UPT20 League, Yash expressed his desire to rejoin stay,” Chatterjee said.
