LUCKNOW: Siddharthnagar police claimed to have cracked the sensational murder of a man by arresting four accused, including the victim’s wife and her alleged lover, for allegedly conspiring to murder a man and disguise the crime as an e-rickshaw accident.Police said Harishchandra (35), a resident of Kapiyawa village under Itwa police station limits, was allegedly killed as part of a conspiracy hatched by his wife, Maya Devi, and her alleged lover, Niyaz Ahmad, over an extramarital relationship and ongoing domestic disputes. Investigators alleged that Niyaz paid Rs 1.10 lakh to hired accomplices to execute the murder.According to police, the accused lured Harishchandra to Muhchorwa Ghat on the night of Aug 30 and allegedly stabbed him to death. To cover up the crime, they threw his body into the Budhi Rapti river and positioned his e-rickshaw near the riverbank to create the impression that he had accidentally driven into the water. The murder initially appeared to be an accident until investigators uncovered evidence pointing to a planned killing based on the post-mortem.Later, on the basis of technical evidence, interrogation of suspects and recovery of the murder weapon, police arrested Irshad, Abdullah, Niyaz Ahmad and later Maya Devi.SP Abhishek Mahajan said the investigation revealed that Maya Devi and Niyaz Ahmad were allegedly involved in a relationship and had conspired to eliminate Harishchandra. Police have invoked additional sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
