Lucknow: State Backward Class Commission has proposed the setting up of a Shri Anna Kala Board to ensure protection for traditional grain-roasting communities in the state, like Bhurji, Bhojwal and Bhadbhuja. The board is aimed not just at preserving traditional skills but also at providing persons associated with these with modern technology, training, loans, subsidies and better market access. At a meeting led by chairperson Rajesh Verma on Wednesday, the Commission also discussed how to implement other development and welfare schemes launched for backward classes.“Under the proposal, work could be done to protect the skills of people associated with the traditional occupation of roasting grains, while connecting them with food processing, promoting skill development, providing easy loans and subsidies and making markets available for their products. The idea of forming the board will further the spirit of an Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh and govt’s One District One Product scheme,” said an official.A letter from the Vishwakarma Ekikaran Abhiyan Sanstha, regarding the participation of the Vishwakarma community in governance, was also considered. It was decided to gather information from Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Haryana regarding the formation of a Vishwakarma Welfare Commission or a Vishwakarma Skill Development Board, and to provide the information to commission.Verma said: “Complaints being received by the commission from OBCs are being resolved promptly. The commission is committed to ensuring that the benefits of schemes run by state govt reach every section of society, particularly the backward classes. Modern technology should be used in the implementation of schemes so that every eligible person receives their benefits.”
