Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Navdeep Rinwa, has directed all district election officers to intensify efforts to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the state’s electoral rolls under the Election Commission of India‘s ongoing continuous revision programme.Issuing the directions on Thursday, the CEO said the campaign will focus on improving the state’s Elector Population (EP) ratio and gender ratio by enrolling left out eligible citizens, first time voters, women, persons with disabilities, homeless people and newly eligible youth. The drive will be conducted with support from educational institutions, self help groups, health workers and other govt departments under the theme “No voter to be left behind.”Eligible citizens can apply online through the EC’s Citizen Service Portal (voters.eci.gov.in) or the ECINET mobile app by submitting Form 6. Offline applications can also be submitted to Booth Level Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers or Electoral Registration Officers along with the required documents. Officials have been told to ensure adequate availability of Form 6 during the campaign.The CEO said applicants must provide accurate information while filling the forms. He added that except during SIR exercises, the earlier requirement of submitting a declaration along with Form 6 has been withdrawn.District authorities have been asked to launch extensive awareness campaigns in coordination with departments, including women welfare, higher and secondary education, health, rural development and youth welfare to maximise voter registration across the state.
