Striking stills grab eyeballs at photo exhibition
Visitors behold the engaging stills on display in TYPA exhibition

Lucknow: From vibrant landscapes and cultural portraits to striking wildlife close-ups, sports action and powerful images capturing urban fires and tragedies, the 10th National Photography Exhibition is drawing visitors with more than 100 photographs featuring diverse visual stories under one roof.Organised by The Youth Photojournalist Association (TYPA) to mark World Photography Day, the three-day exhibition opened on Wednesday.A special tribute to renowned photographer Raghu Rai features some of his iconic photographs, including images of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Bal Thackeray and Lucknow’s Imambara.The left wall of the exhibition displays photographs capturing iconic moments from the political journeys of prominent leaders from Uttar Pradesh.However, photographs of the Aliganj and Vikas Nagar fire incidents emerged as major attractions, featuring powerful images captured amid dramatic scenes during the blazes.Keshav Singh, a student visiting the exhibition, said, “The fire photographs were so intense, I kept wondering how those moments were captured.”On the right wall, photographer and traveller Sanjay Jain’s work depicts Odisha’s tribal culture, including a striking photograph of a Bonda tribal woman drinking water.Adjacent to it, vivid photographs of Holi celebrations in Mathura, captured by photographer Muqeed, and a majestic image of Lord Shiva drew visitors’ attention, while a Muharram mourning photograph by Sahil showcased a powerful sense of motion and emotion.Gayatri, a homemaker, said, “These photographs have a divine energy that stays with you.”A front wall is dedicated to wildlife photography, featuring close-up shots of a lion, a dramatic frame of an eagle catching a frog, and stunning bird photographs that create the impression that the creatures are right in front of viewers.Tanushree, an author visiting the exhibition, said, “I was impressed by the detail in a tiger photograph, where even a leaf on its face was captured beautifully.”
