Lucknow: A 45-year-old contractual driver with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in Sarojini Nagar on Wednesday morning.The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nadeem, a native of Bojha village under Jaidpur police station in Barabanki. He was living with his wife Kaifi and their two sons in Aashiana.According to police, Nadeem had been assigned night duties for the past few days. He had also worked the night shift on Tuesday and was returning home after completing his duty early Wednesday morning.Police said Nadeem reached the Transport Nagar area after finishing his shift. While he was attempting to cross the road on foot and waiting for a suitable opportunity to proceed, a speeding unidentified vehicle allegedly struck him.The impact left him seriously injured. Passersby alerted the police, following which a police team reached the spot and rushed Nadeem to the Trauma Centre. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival.Police identified the victim using the mobile phone and identification documents found on him and subsequently informed his family.Police are examining the circumstances of the accident and scanning available information to identify the vehicle and its driver.
