Lucknow: Two families on Friday performed the last rites of bank officer Manas Bajpai, his bank manager wife Divya Mishra and his sister Sheeba Bajpai, hours after their bodies were taken together for post-mortem at King George’s Medical University (KGMU). Colleagues from the banks where the couple worked also reached the cremation site to pay their respects.Divya’s body was taken to her Alambagh home by her brother-in-law Bharat Yadav and maternal cousin Mayank Dixit, before being carried to Baikunth Dham. Her father, Satish Chandra Mishra, lit the funeral pyre, and her cremation was conducted first.Around one and a half hours later, Manas and Sheeba’s bodies were brought directly from KGMU to Baikunth Dham by their maternal uncle and cousins. Their cousin Piyush Shukla performed the last rites, and the siblings were cremated together at the same crematorium.Family members described the day as shattering, marked by three funeral pyres within hours. “I’m not able to think of anything right now as it is next to impossible that my sister is gone,” said Pragya Mishra, adding that her father is a heart patient. A colleague remembered Divya as dedicated and welcoming.
