Over 41,000 candidates selected in UP home guard selection drive

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) on Saturday declared the final selection result for the 2025 home guard enrolment drive, with 41,424 candidates selected against vacancies across 75 districts of the state.The district-wise list of selected candidates has been uploaded to the official website of the board.Of the selected candidates, 8,502 are from the unreserved category, including 6,950 candidates under Economically Weaker Section (EWS), while 21,580 belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC), 10,932 to Scheduled Caste (SC) and 410 to Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. The selection list also includes 8,290 women.Senior officials in the home guard department told TOI that now those selected will undergo medical and police verification and then by Nov end or early Dec will commence training as home guards.As many as 25,32,196 candidates had submitted online applications. The recruitment process included a written examination, document verification, physical standard test (DV/PST) and physical efficiency test (PET).Following objections raised against the provisional answer keys and review by multiple panels of subject experts, the board released the final answer key on June 25, 2026.Based on written examination scores and district-wise vacancies, 1,07,221 candidates were called for document verification and physical standard testing between July 13 and Aug 7.Of them, 94,169 candidates qualified in the DV/PST stage.The physical efficiency test was subsequently conducted from Sept 15 to 26, in which 79,186 candidates were declared successful.The recruitment board said radio frequency identification (RFID) technology was used to assess candidates during the running test, enabling accurate and automated recording of the time taken by each candidate.The board also said extensive CCTV surveillance was deployed at written examination centres, DV/PST centres and physical efficiency test venues.Live feeds from the venues were monitored in real time through control rooms established at both the district and recruitment-board levels.The final selection was prepared on the basis of candidates’ normalised scores in the written examination, along with additional marks awarded for preferential qualifications supported by documents submitted with their applications.The selection was made according to the district-wise merit list against the advertised vacancies and in accordance with the reservation policy and applicable provisions issued by Uttar Pradesh govt.The board said candidates who appeared in the written examination will also be able to access their normalised scores and total marks, including marks awarded for preferential qualifications, through a link on the board’s website.The individual scores are expected to be made available in the last week of Oct, while a separate notice explaining the procedure for accessing the scores will be issued by the board.
