Lucknow: Directorate of Narcotics Control (DNC), Lucknow, operating under Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), seized 356 grams of heroin valued at about Rs 1.5 crore in the international market and arrested one person during an anti-drug operation, officials said.The action was carried out on Aug 20, after the agency received specific intelligence indicating that a suspect was carrying heroin for delivery within the city. Based on the input, a DNC team mounted surveillance and tracked the suspected carrier’s movement.Officials said the team intercepted the individual in front of Spicy Grill Dhaba on Lucknow-Barabanki Road, near CMS School. A search led to the recovery of 0.356 kg of heroin from the accused. A Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle, allegedly used to transport the contraband, was also seized.After completing mandatory legal formalities, the heroin and the vehicle were formally taken into custody. The accused was arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.Authorities said investigators are probing the source of the heroin, the intended recipient, and the wider network involved. Financial and communication links are also being examined as the inquiry continues.
