Impressive performance by Jaipur shuttlers at All India Sub-Junior Ranking badminton tournament

Jaipur: Jaipur players performed brilliantly and won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament which concluded here recently at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.In the Under-15 boys doubles, unseeded pair Vayam Lamba and Shreyansh Choudhary clinched the gold medal. The Jaipur duo edged past Aditya Singh Negi (Uttarakhand) and Samvit Ramesh (Jharkhand) 22-20, 26-28, 21-18 in a marathon final that lasted 72 minutes.

The mixed doubles specialist Manan Sharma of Jaipur won the silver medal with his partner from Punjab Inayat Gulati. The combination of Manan and Inayat went down fighting against the second seeded pair from Tamil Nadu in the U-15 mixed doubles summit clash.Rising city shuttler Anvi Rathore claimed the bronze medal in the U-15 girls singles. In an exciting semi-final, Anvi was upset by fifth-seeded Aryama Chakraborty of West Bengal 25-23, 22-20, 21-19.Jaipur District Badminton Association president Anil Mehta, JDBA secretary Manoj Dasot and JDBA treasurer Atul Gupta felicitated the gold medal winning players.It was announced that Rs 11,000 each would be given to both Vayam and Shreyansh. Players, who won silver and bronze medals, would also be given money according to their medals.On this occasion, the district association official congratulated coaches Yadavendra Singh and Aman Kumawat.
