Lucknow: In a move aimed at ensuring better healthcare for Ayushman cardholders, state govt has intensified monitoring of impanelled hospitals across UP.Hospitals flouting norms or falling short of prescribed clinical standards will face strict penal action.To carry out on-ground verification, State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) has constituted a four-member inspection team, which has already initiated surprise audits across the state capital, officials said on Friday.SACHIS chief executive officer Archana Verma said: “Surprise inspections are being carried out to assess the ground reality of facilities offered to beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.”Earlier, during surprise checks conducted at Lucknow hospitals, the panel scrutinised infrastructure, medical staffing, staff behaviour towards patients and cleanliness standards, with a special focus on the segregation and scientific disposal of biomedical waste.The team also carried out comprehensive checks in high-risk zones, inspecting infection-control protocols, hygiene and safety arrangements inside OTs and ICUs.In addition, officials verified whether IEC (information, education, and communication) display boards were properly positioned to inform patients about their entitled benefits and cashless services.Warning healthcare providers against lapses, Verma emphasised that hospital administrations are legally bound to provide a clean and courteous environment.
