NEW DELHI: Govt has with immediate effect dissolved its apex decision-making body for telecom and digital communication – digital communications commission (DCC), which was originally established as telecom commission in 1989, before being renamed in 2018. The communication ministry’s department of telecommunication (DoT) notified this decision through a Sept 19, 2026 resolution that was published in the Gazette of India. “With effect from date of publication of this resolution, the DCC shall stand dissolved,” says the gazette.Decisions for projects up to Rs 100 crore can be taken by the secretary DoT, up to Rs 500 crore by the telecom minister and those above Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore were considered by the DCC. Now the same will be referred to the expenditure finance committee.
