Emergency specialists to hold hands-on workshops at PGI

Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences will host emergency medicine specialists from India and abroad for a series of hands-on workshops focused on advanced trauma care, resuscitation and critical-care skills during a four-day international conference beginning Thursday.The conference – called EMPARV – is being anchored by department of Emergency Medicine, SGPGIMS, in association with Association of Emergency Medicine Educators and is featuring 21 hands-on workshops over two days, bringing together emergency physicians, intensivists, anaesthesiologists, trauma specialists, nurses, paramedics, residents and researchers.“The workshops will cover a range of critical-care skills, including airway management, trauma life support, ECMO, point-of-care ultrasound, haemodynamic monitoring and ventilation. Other sessions will focus on toxicology, neurological emergencies, sepsis, ECG and arterial blood gas interpretation, bronchoscopy and patient safety,” said Prof R K Singh, organising chairperson.“The conference will also include sessions on scientific writing and artificial intelligence in healthcare, with the organisers aiming to combine academic learning with simulation-based and practical training,” he added.SGPGI director Prof RK Dhiman said the effort is expected to provide a platform for healthcare professionals to share newer approaches in emergency and critical care and strengthen multidisciplinary coordination in acute-care settings.
