Lucknow: The Congress on Saturday accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of pushing critical electoral roll revisions and software overhauls unilaterally, alleging that serious internal dissents by two election commissioners were consistently bypassed.Addressing a joint news conference here, Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ and national spokesperson Abhay Dubey cited internal friction, stating that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi registered at least 14 written objections over the last 10 months.They alleged the commissioners were kept in the dark about new IT modules and centralised software until after development, while their concerns on adding and deleting voter names went unaddressed.The leaders pointed out that the commissioners were forced to flag these procedural irregularities in separate letters to cabinet secretary after the full panel failed to meet for four months.Dubey and Mishra also questioned the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), where 13.98 crore names were struck off across 26 states and six UTs.They termed changes to Form 6 regarding ancestral lineage “unauthorised and illegal,” insisting the poll panel could not alter statutory rules without transparency and internal consensus.
