Dhirubhai Ambani, who laid the foundation of Reliance Industry, one of the legendary companies of the country and the world, died on 6 July 2002. Dhirubhai Ambani has traveled from zero to summit. Dhirubhai Ambani was born on 28 December 1933 in a small town of Gujarat. His father was an ordinary teacher, while the mother’s housewife was there. The whole family lived in a two-room house with five siblings. To help the family financially, Dhirubhai Ambani started selling the knot. He used to sell knots near the hills of Girnar. Used to hand over two earnings to the mother. After passing the tenth, he moved to Yemen in 1949 to his brother Ramaniklal. There he got a job at a petrol pump. He got the first job at a salary of Rs 300, but seeing his work and hard work, the petrol pump owner made him a manager. Dhirubhai’s mind did not work in the job. He always wanted to do business. He returned to the country with the savings that was left.
He reached Mumbai with 500 rupees. He launched the Reliance Commercial Corporation Company with the help of his cousin Champalal Dimani. He already had an understanding of business. With the help of his company, he started selling ginger, turmeric and other spices in western countries. Dhirubhai Ambani had entered the business. He had good knowledge of market and demand. He had understood that the demand for polyester clothes is going to increase in the coming days. He always thought ahead and then started business.
How skill and understanding of business within Dhirubhai Ambani can guess from the fact that he earned earn by selling mud to a sheikh of Arabia. Sheikh of Arabia needed rose flowers in his garden. So they needed special soil. As soon as Dhirubhai Ambani came to know about this, he sent soil from India for Sheikh. Instead, Sheikh gave him a price demanded. Dhirubhai now started textile business after spices. He started exporting polyester. He launched his first brand Vimal.
He rented a 350 -square -foot room in Mumbai for his new company Reliance Commerce Corporation. Started work with a table, three curses, writing pads in the office. In 1966, he launched a textile mill in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, named ‘Reliance Textiles’. Gradually they started the business of plastic, magnesum, petrochemical, power generation. The place started falling less than the work. He took a big office in Mumbai.
The business was in the early stages, so they had to work 14–15 hours. But he used to spend whatever time he got. He neither liked to party nor used to roam. He used to give all the time after work to the family. He replaced his company three times and in the year 1977, he finally presented Reliance Industries. In 1977, he decided to bring India’s first IPO. Dhirubhai Ambani was an expert to pay risk. Dhirubhai Ambani with strong personality started making money with money. He had a good understanding of the stock market. Reliance was the first company to book stadium for an annual meeting. The company continued to grow on the basis of Dhirubhai’s trust. He became on 6 July 2002. After his departure, Reliance Industries was divided into Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani.
