LUCKNOW: CNG prices on Saturday increased in several cities of Uttar Pradesh after the city gas distributor revised retail selling prices, citing higher input gas costs, rising spot LNG prices and currency exchange fluctuations. The revised prices came into effect in phases on Oct 3 and Oct 4 across different geographical areas. In Lucknow, CNG has become costlier by Rs 2 per kg, with the retail price rising from Rs 105 to Rs 107 per kg from Oct 3. In neighbouring Unnao, the price has also increased by Rs 2 per kg, from Rs 101.75 to Rs 103.75 per kg.From Oct 4, consumers in Agra will pay Rs 107 per kg, following a Rs 2 per kg increase from the earlier rate of Rs 105.The sharpest revision has been announced for Ayodhya and Sultanpur, where CNG prices have risen by Rs 3.25 per kg, from Rs 101.75 to Rs 105 per kg.According to the company, the hike was necessitated by higher input gas costs, including an increase in spot gas prices and currency exchange rate variations affecting procurement costs. The latest revision is expected to raise operating expenses for CNG-powered private vehicles, taxis, auto-rickshaws and commercial transport operators.
