The weather in Uttarakhand has once again turned. While people were preparing to roam on holiday, now they have been advised to be vigilant. The Meteorological Department has warned that many parts of the state may receive heavy rains with strong winds. During this time the risk of incidents like lightning and landslides has increased.
Red alert issued in these districts
The state government and the Meteorological Department have issued a red alert in Nainital, Champawat, Udhamsinghnagar and Pauri districts. There is a possibility of winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Also, yellow alert has been implemented in Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Heavy rains are also expected in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Almora.
Signs started appearing from Saturday itself
Since Saturday evening, there were black clouds in many areas including Dehradun. The Meteorological Department estimates that rain on Sunday may be more intense. In such a situation, people have been advised to be safe in homes on holiday. There is a need to be vigilant on exit.
Landslide and flood threat
The Meteorological Department has warned that there may be incidents such as landslides, rock fall and road closure in many parts of the state today. Due to the rise in the water level of river-drains, flood-like conditions can be created in the low-lying areas. Flash floods and back erosion are also expected in sensitive areas. The administration is placed on alert mode.
