Growing up, we have all watched animal documentaries where a Bengal tiger or an African giraffe looks majestic in its natural habitat. Funnily enough, there are also candid moments when animals are caught in hilarious poses. The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards are an effort to celebrate this lighter side of wildlife photography. The awards give photographers from around the world a chance to showcase their impeccable timing, keen observation and ability to capture nature’s funniest moments.
The 2026 competition received more than 10,000 entries from 112 countries, marking the highest number in its history. The awards have now announced their 2026 finalists, and the pictures are a treasure trove of nature’s funniest moments. The shortlist includes 40 individual finalists, along with entries in the under-16, portfolio and video categories.
