Lucknow: Recognising humanitarian eye care services for underprivileged and tribal communities, including people living along the LoC, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan honoured Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) Operation Drishti with Sant Ishwar Samman on Friday.The honour was received by Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra, under whose leadership the initiative has screened more than 1.5 lakh patients and performed over 3,500 eye surgeries across 10 cities.Operation Drishti delivers specialised ophthalmic care through outreach camps and surgical interventions in remote and underserved areas where access to specialist treatment is limited. The programme aims to restore vision and improve access to quality eye care for vulnerable communities.AFMS said the recognition acknowledges the sustained efforts of its medical teams in extending specialised eye care to communities that often remain beyond the reach of conventional healthcare services.
