Lucknow: Scientists and industry leaders at the 85th Foundation Day celebrations of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR) on Monday said science must move beyond laboratories and research papers to deliver technologies that reach people.Speakers highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between research institutions and industry, and for scaling up innovations for real-world deployment. They said emerging areas including artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, advanced computing, personalised healthcare, telemedicine, low-cost diagnostics and next-generation risk assessment are likely to shape the next decade of applied research and public-facing technologies.SP Vasireddi, executive chairman of Vimta Labs Ltd, Hyderabad, and the chief guest, said successful science should generate societal value along with business value, keeping people at the centre of innovation. He urged researchers to focus on collaboration, technology scale-up, manufacturing and large-scale deployment rather than limiting outcomes to publications.As part of the event, CSIR-IITR exchanged Memoranda of Agreement with startups and technology incubatees, reflecting efforts to convert research outputs into usable applications and strengthen its innovation ecosystem.IITR director Bhaskar Narayan scientists must remain passionate, creative and scientifically enriching, adding that “science will teach us perseverance.” Scientist G Rajnish Chaturvedi appealed to the scientific community to pursue “scientific solutions for society.” Narayan saidA science exhibition by students from Modern School and an Ayurvedic college was also held, along with recognition of employees completing 25 years in CSIR and retiring staff.
