Lucknow: Farmers whose land was acquired for the Lucknow Development Authority’s Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar housing schemes said on Thursday that the compensation process was transparent and timely, and several beneficiaries said they had invested the money to build long-term security rather than spend it on one-time purchases.Ramdei, a resident of Rewari village, credited the state govt and chief minister Yogi Adityanath for what she described as “good compensation,” saying the payment helped her family plan for the future.Kamlesh Kumar of Dona village said he willingly gave one hectare to the LDA for the Varun Vihar scheme and received Rs 2.80 crore. He said he used the amount to buy land in Unnao district and construct a house. He added that the project was bringing development to the surrounding area and his village.In another case, Sushma Singh from Bakshi Ka Talab said her land in Kamalabad was taken for the Naimish Nagar scheme and she received Rs 2.90 crore as compensation.Namra Fatima, who has recently passed Class 12 and is preparing for NEET, said her family’s land in Saidapur village was acquired for Naimish Nagar, for which they received Rs 70.58 lakh. She said the money was received “without any difficulty,” enabling the family to purchase land while retaining funds for her medical education. She said the scheme would expand employment opportunities and housing facilities, contributing to development in the region.Om Prakash Awasthi of Bakshi Ka Talab said he gave more than 1.5 bighas for Naimish Nagar and received Rs 1.96 crore. He said he did not have to make repeated visits to offices, and that about 15 days after submitting a consent letter, he was contacted for registration. The amount was issued via demand draft and credited to his bank account the next day. Awasthi said he bought 16 bighas on Biswan Road in Sitapur and deposited the remaining amount in the bank.
