Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj are set to take their relationship to the next step. The couple will get married on December 4 at the Ramada Hotel in Lucknow, with preparations now underway at both ends.The wedding is expected to be attended by family members, close relatives and a few special guests.Rinku, who has become a familiar name in Indian cricket, is from Uttar Pradesh, while Priya is the Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr in the state.The couple had got engaged in Lucknow on June 8, 2025, at The Centrum Hotel. Priya has also been seen supporting Rinku from the stands during his cricket matches, including at Eden Gardens, where she cheered for the KKR star.
How did Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj meet?
Their relationship apparently started in a rather unexpected way, with a fan page playing a part in bringing the two together.Speaking to The Times of India after their engagement, Rinku opened up about how he first came across Priya’s picture online. It was during the Covid years, when the IPL was being played in Mumbai.He said he spotted her photograph on a fan page related to voting in her village. Rinku immediately found her interesting but wasn’t sure whether he should message her.Then came a small nudge.Priya had liked a few of his Instagram photos, which gave Rinku the confidence to finally send her a message.“It started during the COVID years when the IPL was in Mumbai,” Rinku said. “I saw her photo on a fan page about some voting in her village. I thought she was perfect for me, but I was unsure about texting her at first. When she liked a couple of my photos, I finally messaged her, and that’s how it began. Soon, we were talking regularly, even before matches. That’s when I started feeling the love in 2022,” Rinku told The Times of India.What started with a social media message gradually turned into a relationship, and the two eventually made it official with their engagement in June 2025.
Priya has been cheering for Rinku
Priya hasn’t exactly kept her support for Rinku away from the cricket stands.She has been spotted at matches, including at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, cheering for the cricketer during his games for Kolkata Knight Riders.Rinku has also spoken publicly about their relationship since the engagement, giving fans a glimpse into how the romance began.Now, more than a year after their engagement, the couple is preparing for their wedding in Lucknow.Rinku is currently not part of India’s squad for the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan. But with December 4 now set as the wedding date, the cricketer has another major date on his calendar, this time away from the cricket field.
