President Donald Trump warned on Sept. 10 that he would block Democrat-led bills for two years if the Republican Party does not win the midterm elections this fall.
“I’ll end up being a blocker,” Trump stated during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle.”
The president’s comments came after host Laura Ingraham asked what would happen to his legacy if the Democrats won back the U.S. House and Senate, causing a divided government during the final half of his second term.
“I’ll block all their bad stuff for two years,” Trump said. “It won’t be the same, but I’ll be a blocker. What can I tell you?”
The president noted there’s a chance he’d make some deals with the Democrats and added that he doesn’t think they have grounds to impeach him.
“They got some real dummies in there, but they have some real smart people,” Trump said. “But they’re radical left, they are communists, but they’re certainly socialists, but they are communists.”

“If I had it to do again, I’d do exactly as I did,” Trump said, “I took out their nuclear capability.’

The Republicans will conclude the first-ever 2026 Republican Midterm Convention on Thursday night in Texas after using the high-profile event to boost the GOP’s efforts to keep the House and Senate this fall.
The president revealed during his interview with Ingraham that the plan has support from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.).
“Well, first of all, the money has to be spent in the United States,” Trump said. “We can’t go out and buy things from Germany, or frankly Canada, or any other place, and therefore it just gets flown right into the system. But much more importantly, we’re going to take care of the 40 trillion over a period of time through growth. We’re growing at a faster rate than we’ve ever grown before.”
