LUCKNOW: After hours of attempts to persuade his wife to return home, a PRD personnel in Malihabad finally chose to let her go — and even helped her marry the man she wanted to be with. The woman, who had married the PRD jawan in May last year, had allegedly left her in-laws’ house a few days ago without informing her family. After failing to trace her, the husband approached Malihabad police and lodged a missing report. The matter took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when the woman reached Malihabad police station with her lover. Police said the two had been in a relationship before her marriage. The woman’s arrival brought both her parental and marital families to the police station, where relatives spent several hours trying to convince her to return to her husband and resume their marriage. She, however, remained firm about wanting to live with her lover. When the reconciliation attempts failed, the husband accepted her decision and agreed to end their relationship by mutual consent. Before they parted, he reportedly told her to remain loyal to the man she had chosen. The woman and her lover later went to a nearby temple, where they got married and left together.Malihabad inspector Surendra Bhati said both families eventually accepted the woman’s decision. “The matter was resolved through mutual consent. No complaint has been filed by either party,” he said.
