Lucknow: A delegation of nearly 70 senior govt officials and civil society representatives from Kenya, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa and Senegal visited govt schools in Ghaziabad as part of a week-long peer-learning immersion programme to gain insights into implementation of foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) reforms under India’s NIPUN Bharat Mission. The programme, being held from Aug 23-27, is aimed at facilitating international knowledge-sharing strategies to improve early-grade learning outcomes. The delegates were divided into smaller groups and taken to 11 state-run schools in different blocks, where they observed classroom teaching and interacted with students, teachers, principals, academic resource persons (ARPs) and members of the state resource group (SRGs).The visitors gained first-hand insights into how policies under the NIPUN Bharat Mission are translated into classroom practices and supported through academic mentoring and monitoring systems. Through direct interaction with teachers and students, they examined teaching methodologies, learning materials and assessment practices aimed at improving children’s foundational skills, said a govt spokesperson.Following the school visits, the delegation participated in detailed technical discussions with education department officials. Discussions focused on curriculum design, structured teaching-learning materials, teacher mentoring, assessment systems, data use and the role of the middle tier in implementing reforms at scale.
