Dhubri: Nearly 35 women on Tuesday underwent cancer screening at a health camp in Dhubri Medical College and Hospital(DMCH), reports Bijoy Sharma.The camp, jointly organised by Dhubri and Gauripur Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Mahila Mandal to mark World Cancer Day, in collaboration with DMCH, was inaugurated by DMCH superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Gunajit Das.
“Of late, prevalence of cervical PAP SMEAR type of cancer has been on the rise and such health camps raise awareness among people, where testing should be done on a regular basis. We are ready to support the awareness with our facilities in the days to come”, Das said.Lauding DMCH for their support, co-ordinator of the screening camp Chhaya Oswal and president of Gauripur Mahila Mandal Pinky Chhajer said they had been trying for long to organise such a camp, but couldn’t implement their plans previously. Dhubri district co-ordinator of Assam cancer foundation, Samar Sarma, senior office bearers of Dhubri Terapanth Samaj, Binod Kundalia and Surendra Oswal, and senior DMCH professor Dr. Shyamanta Das, too, were present during the event.
