Mohali: A youth has been arrested for allegedly possessing a countrymade pistol and three live cartridges. The accused, identified as Satnam Singh of Mohali village, has been booked under the Arms Act.Investigating officer ASI Davinder Singh said a Phase-1 police team was on patrol duty on the night of Jan 29, when they received a tip-off about a suspicious person in the area. Acting on the information, the team apprehended Satnam Singh from his village and recovered the firearm and cartridges during a search.A case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered at Phase-1 police station on ASI Davinder Singh’s statement.Police said Satnam has a previous criminal record. In 2025, he was arrested by Sohana police in another Arms Act case involving a countrymade pistol and was currently out on bail. His fresh arrest with another illegal weapon has raised suspicion about his activities, officials said.He was produced in court and sent to two-day police remand. During interrogation, police will probe the source of the weapon and any possible links to a supply network or other criminal activity.
