In 2021, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the free smartphone scheme 2025 to provide free tablets to the youth of the state. The program aims to digitally empower the youth and support their educational efforts. The purpose of this program is to provide free tablets and cellphones to millions of youth. Applications have been received from colleges and universities for this program.
After the application process, the district-by-district list of qualified children was made public. Later, many students got tablets and smartphones from the Chief Minister themselves in a big ceremony. These devices were distributed to the remaining students by their respective colleges. But during the elections, the plan was stopped for some time. After the elections, the administration agreed to continue the program and provide free tablets and cellphones to 25 lakh youth annually.
