Yogi Adityanath: Water purification project worth Rs 2.7 crore launched

Gorakhpur . Yogi Adityanath   on Friday inaugurated the Municipal Corporation’s project of Rs 2 crore 70 lakh for water purification through natural method (phytoremediation technique) of drains falling into the Rapti river. Addressing the gathering present on the occasion, he said that water purification through natural method will not only purify the river but will also save crores of rupees.There will be no cost of electricity or maintenance. In the ceremony organized at Takiaghat, the Chief Minister said that the efforts made by the Municipal Corporation to ensure that the Rapti river in Gorakhpur remains uninterrupted and clean, its water remains clean and beautiful are commendable. This is a great work. This work has been done to save fertility and life.

CM said that great men have considered water as life. Due to polluted water, 50 thousand innocent children died due to encephalitis and vector-borne diseases in eastern Uttar Pradesh including Gorakhpur from 1977 to 2017. The cause of deaths due to viral diseases was polluted water and dirt. CM Yogi said that Swachh Bharat Mission was implemented in the entire country with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amrit Mission was started in urban areas and Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas to supply pure drinking water to every person. Work was done to provide pure drinking water to every house through Har Ghar Nal Yojana.

The work of saving river culture started with the inspiration of PM Modi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that today after the Namami Gange project, the work of saving river culture has been started with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today its result is that the world’s largest religious and spiritual gathering is going to be held in the form of Maha Kumbh at the Triveni of Maa Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from 13 January to 26 February. He said that in Gorakhpur too our civilization and culture is settled on the banks of the river. Gorakhpur is settled on the banks of Rapti River and Rohin River. The river which is the mother of our civilization and culture, is being purified.

BOD level was 350, now it is 22

The Chief Minister said that earlier the National Green Tribunal was constantly fining the Municipal Corporation due to polluted water falling into the Rapti River. The Municipal Corporation had made preparations to build an STP at a cost of Rs 110 crore. Then we said that natural methods should be adopted for water purification. Today its pleasant result is in front of everyone. Earlier the BOD (Bio Chemical Oxygen Demand) level of water here had reached 350 and it was worse than dangerous poison and was not even fit for irrigation in the fields. After water purification by natural method, now the BOD level has come to pure state. In this project, the BOD level of water falling at the end has come to 22.

Just one time expense and then only savings

CM Yogi said that this project of water purification by natural method has cost only Rs 2 crore 70 lakh once. And, now it will save electricity and maintenance cost of crores of rupees. He said that this method can be taken forward in an even better way. This is a model of sustainable development. We can connect it with every drain. He said that if all the drains connected to all the drainage and sewer are taken forward in this form, then we will be successful in maintaining the purity of water, the most basic necessity of life, by giving better results at less cost through a natural model. Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava and MLA Vipin Singh also addressed the function. On this occasion, BJP’s Metropolitan President Rajesh Gupta, BJP Business Cell Convenor Bhola Agrahari, Mahant Ravindradas of Kalibari etc. were prominently present.

CM Yogi took stock of the drain cleaning work

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday inspected the water purification project of the Municipal Corporation through natural method (phytoremediation technique) before inaugurating it. Along with observing the design of the project, he also visited the spot and saw the condition of the treated water. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal told him that the polluted water coming out of the metropolis falls into Rapti and Rohin rivers through 15 main drains.

To protect the river water from getting polluted, the Municipal Corporation is carrying out water purification work through natural method (phytoremediation technique) at a cost of Rs 2 crore 70 lakh on the drain falling into Rapti river through Ilahibagh Regulator and Takiya Ghat. Under this method, pre-filter has been installed on the main drain and four branch drains falling into it and two other branch drains. Also, gabion wall has been built with natural stone every 30 to 40 meters. Aquatic plants have also been installed in the drain. The water passing through these processes falls into the river after being purified. The capacity of this project is to purify 15 mega liters of water per day. On this occasion, the Chief Minister suggested intercepting other drains as well and purifying water through natural method.

Had a heart-to-heart conversation with the citizens, asked the girl- how is her studies going

While inspecting the water purification project at Takiyaghat, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had a cordial conversation with women, elderly and children. He asked a girl named Aashiya, who studies in class three, how her studies are going. The Chief Minister blessed Aashiya and other children and also gifted them chocolates.
