Lucknow: The Yamuna Expressway region is poised to emerge as a major hub for the garment industry, with the Uttar Pradesh govt developing a large Apparel Park spread across 175 acres in Sector-29 under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The export-oriented project is expected to give a significant boost to manufacturing, exports, and women-centric employment in the state.Officials said the Apparel Park will house around 100 export-focused ready-made garment units catering to domestic as well as international markets. Designed on a cluster-based model, the park aims to provide shared infrastructure and common services to improve the efficiency, productivity, and global competitiveness of units, particularly small and medium enterprises. A key feature of the project is its strong employment potential, especially for women. The park is expected to generate large-scale direct and indirect jobs across stitching, design, pattern-making, packaging, quality control, and logistics. Officials said the initiative aligns with the state govt’s focus on women’s economic empowerment and value-added manufacturing, while reinforcing the ‘Make in UP’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns. With direct connectivity to the Yamuna Expressway and proximity to the upcoming Noida International Airport, the project will enable faster movement of goods and lower logistics costs. Its closeness to the Delhi-NCR market is also expected to help exporters meet tight delivery schedules. A state-of-the-art Common Facility Centre (CFC) will offer a design centre, training facilities, testing laboratories, quality control infrastructure, and research and development support under one roof.
