Ludhiana: City’s international para-badminton star, Shabana, has secured vital financial backing for the upcoming World Para Badminton Championship in Bahrain. Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain, alongside local NGOs, provided the funds required for her participation in the February 8–14 tournament. Jain lauded Shabana as an inspiration, noting that a victory in Bahrain would secure her qualification for the 2026 Asian Games.
The athlete expressed confidence in her performance and thanked the administration for ensuring her career isn’t stalled by lack of resources. Jain further appealed to philanthropists to continue supporting local talent to prevent capable athletes from being sidelined.
