Women achievers, ex-servicemen feted on Armed Forces Veterans Day | Lucknow News

Bahraich: The kin of select bravehearts from the Indian Armed Forces were felicitated at an event to mark the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day organised at the District Soldiers’ Welfare and Rehabilitation Office in Bahraich on Wednesday. The event was presided over by district magistrate (DM) Akshay Tripathi. Brave women (Veer Naris), gallantry and distinguished medal awardees, ex-servicemen, and wives of deceased ex-servicemen from the district participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, the DM expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifice, dedication, and service of brave women, medal recipients, and former soldiers. He said that it is because of their supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s borders that India continues to progress on the path of development. The DM also assured that issues and grievances of soldiers and their families would be resolved on a priority basis. Those feted on the occasion included the son of Brigadier TP Shukla, recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal; the family of Angrej Singh, who was martyred in the Indo-China War; the widow of a deceased soldier from the Second World War; and three non-pensioner ex-servicemen. 50 other ex-servicemen were also honoured on the occasion. District Soldiers’ Welfare and Rehabilitation Officer (retired) Colonel Mahesh Chandra Dhyani recalled the patriotism, sense of duty, and integrity of late Agniveer Dilip Kumar Nishad. A condolence letter issued by the Chief of Army Staff was handed over to the martyr’s brother, Vinod Nishad. Senior assistant Bhanu Pratap Gupta, Narendra Kumar, and Jagdamba Prasad from the District Soldiers’ Welfare and Rehabilitation Office played a role in the successful conduct of the event.
