Jhunjhunu: A woman in Jhunjhunu district filed a false report of robbery at her home with the intention of selling jewellery to buy a plot, police said Wednesday. Jewellery and cash hidden in a bed were recovered by police from the woman’s possession.Mukundgarh police station officer Tarachand said on Jan 19, Ruksar, wife of Wasim, filed a report stating that three women and a man robbed gold and silver jewellery worth more than Rs 10 lakh and Rs 25,000 in cash at knifepoint from her home.
Police examined CCTV footage from the area, questioned neighbours, but no suspicious activity by any outsider came to light. Police became further suspicious when Ruksar kept changing her statements. Upon strict questioning, the woman broke down and admitted that the entire robbery story was fabricated.She revealed that she hid all her gold and silver jewellery and cash in the bed at her home. She said she wished to sell the jewellery to buy a separate plot for herself.
