Vadodara: A woman allegedly involved in a series of gold jewellery thefts across multiple states was arrested by Gorwa police on Friday after she was found moving suspiciously inside the hostel premises of GMERS Hospital, police said.Acting on a tip-off, police kept a watch on the suspect and detained her before she could flee. The accused was identified as Deepti Singh (30), a resident of Lucknow. During questioning, Singh allegedly confessed to committing several thefts in the past.Police said Singh admitted to stealing gold jewellery from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital around 10 days ago and to committing another theft earlier in Rajkot. Gold jewellery worth around Rs 2 lakh was recovered from her possession.Investigators said the accused would conduct reconnaissance in crowded hospitals and target patients or their relatives before making a swift escape.
