Gurgaon: A woman and her boyfriend were arrested on Monday for the brutal murder of her husband in Faridabad.Anjani alias Kavita (29) and Riyaul (30) were nabbed two months after the mutilated body of her husband — auto driver Suman — was found on railway tracks in the Mewla Maharajpur area. Anjani and Riyaul hatched the plan to eliminate Suman after he came to know about their extramarital relationship, police said. When Suman discovered the affair, frequent disputes followed, after which the accused decided to kill him. On the night of Nov 30, 2025, the duo lured Suman to an isolated spot near the railway tracks, made him consume alcohol until he was heavily intoxicated and then assaulted him repeatedly on the head with stones, killing him on the spot. To destroy evidence and mislead investigators, they placed his face on the railway track so that passing trains further disfigured the body, police said.Police said the case, initially a blind murder, was cracked through coordinated efforts of the crime branch and the criminal analysis team. The case had come to light after a missing person complaint was lodged on Jan 18 by Sunny, a resident of Godda district in Jharkhand, who said that his brother Suman was untraceable since late Nov.During the probe, Sunny raised suspicion about the illicit affair between Suman’s wife and Riyaul, which prompted the DLF crime branch unit to intensify the investigation under the supervision of DCP Mukesh Malhotra. Police officials said that while analysing old records, the team linked the missing complaint with an unidentified body that was found on Dec 1, 2025 on railway tracks. After cross-verifying autopsy findings, physical details and circumstantial evidence, police confirmed that the deceased was Suman, who lived in Mewla Maharajpur with his wife for nearly 16 years. Investigations revealed that Anjani worked at a local company where she became close to Riyaul, a tailor from Malda in West Bengal and the two were in a relationship for several years. After the crime, Anjani fled to her maternal home in Jharkhand to avoid suspicion, while Riyaul continued to stay in Faridabad. The accused were produced before a local court, which granted the police a four-day remand.
