Jaipur: A woman passenger was injured after an unidentified miscreant hurled stones at a moving train in Udaipur Thursday morning, forcing passengers to pull the emergency chain and halt the train, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained one person.The incident occurred when the Udaipur City–Madar passenger train was passing Jharnon ki Sarai, shortly after leaving Rana Pratapnagar Railway Station in Udaipur. A stone thrown from outside smashed into the general coach, striking Shambhul Sheikh (22), a resident of Fatehnagar in the city, on the face.The impact shattered her spectacles and left her bleeding below the eye. She began to scream in pain and horror, forcing other passengers to immediately pull the chain to stop the train. RPF personnel and passengers got down and searched the surrounding area, but the attacker fled into nearby bushes before he could be caught.The injured woman was deboarded at Debari railway station and shifted to Maharana Bhupal Hospital in an ambulance.RPF officials said a case was registered against an unknown person and efforts were on to identify and trace the attacker. The officials said that unauthorised movement along railway tracks, stone-pelting at trains, or placing objects such as stones or iron rods on tracks are non-bailable offences, as railways are national property.“RPF has been asked to be extra vigilant in the area where the incident has taken place. IB, CID, state police has been alerted. One suspect has also been detained,” said Amit Sudarshan, chief public relations officer, north western railways while talking to TOI.
