Woman gets life term for killing 7-year-old in Kaimur

Sasaram: The court of additional district and sessions judge (ADJ)-V, Bhabhua, Ashutosh Kumar Singh, on Saturday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment with rigorous imprisonment for the brutal murder of a seven-year-old boy in Naudih village under the Chainpur police station area on Nov 5, 2020.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict and directed that in case of non-payment, she would have to undergo an additional two months of imprisonment.

The woman, Sita Devi, wife of Upendra Rai and a resident of Naudih, was found guilty of calling her neighbour Munna Rai’s seven-year-old son, Deepu Lal, to her house, tying his hands and feet, and killing him by slitting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. During the trial, additional public prosecutor Deenanath Singh represented the prosecution. Relying on witness testimonies and material evidence placed before it, the court held the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.In a separate case, the court of additional district and sessions judge-II, Yogesh Tripathi, awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to one Dadan Chaurasia, for murdering his neighbour over a house construction dispute at Shivpur village under the Sonhan police station area in Kaimur district on Feb 17, 2020.
