Kanpur: A 33-year-old woman died by suicide at her home in Kakwan town of Kanpur on Sunday morning, police said.Family members saw her body hanging and raised the alarm. Her father-in-law immediately informed the police. The police reached the spot, took the body into custody, began an investigation, and sent it for post-mortem examination.The deceased was identified as Khushnuma (33), wife of Aslam, a resident of Kakwan.Police said that on Saturday night, everyone went to sleep after dinner. In the morning, when family members looked into her room, they found her hanging from a dupatta noose and alerted the police. One year ago, Khushnuma’s husband, Aslam, married his sister-in-law’s sister and brought her home as his second wife, the police said.After the second marriage, there was continuous discord in the house. Aslam also took his second wife’s side, which troubled Khushnuma, the police said. Station in-charge Jitendra Rajput reached the spot with his team and began the investigation. A field unit was called for forensic investigation and collected evidence from the spot. Police sent the body for post-mortem.The woman’s family members reached the spot on being informed of the incident and created a ruckus, alleging it to be a case of murder.Police station in-charge said, “The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.”
