Woman dies by suicide days after husband’s death in road accident

Sasaram: Unable to cope with the death of her husband, who had died barely three days earlier, a 36-year-old woman ended her life by hanging herself from a tree in the Suganiya forest under Adhaura police station in Kaimur district. She was found hanging from a tree with a black sari tied around her neck Saturday morning, police said, while family members also confirmed the incident.The deceased was identified as Hevanti Devi (36), wife of Hira Lal Singh and a resident of Khamkala village in the Adhaura police station area. Her husband had lost his life in a road accident on Feb 18 near Sati Mai Sthan while returning from Khaliyari Bazaar in Uttar Pradesh.According to her father-in-law, Shivcharan Singh, Hevanti had been distressed following her husband’s untimely death and was unable to overcome the shock, which allegedly drove her to take the extreme step.Adhaura police took the body into custody and conducted an inquest. PSI Virendra Kumar Oraon completed the required formalities and the body was sent to Bhabhua Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination on Saturday. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.Family members said on Friday at around 9am, she had left home, telling them she was going out to relieve herself. When she did not return for a long time, the family grew anxious and began searching for her, only to later find her body.
