Patna: A 26-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter were burned alive in fire that broke out in a house of one Pramod Paswan at Gajna Chowk under Sadar police station area of Supaul district early Monday. The blaze spread rapidly and engulfed 3–4 nearby homes.Local people called the fire brigade team that reached the spot and brought the fire under control after much effort, but by then heavy damage had already occurred. When the debris was searched, the burnt bodies of the mother and daughter, who were sleeping inside the house, were recovered.According to police, deceased were identified as Neelam Devi (26) and her daughter, Anjali Kumari (4). Neelam, wife of Pintu Yadav of Aran Bishanpur village in Saharsa district, had recently come to her parental home at Gajna Chowk. Family members said Neelam and Pintu had a love marriage about five years ago.Upon receiving information about the incident, Sadar police also reached the spot and sent the two bodies to Sadar hospital, Supaul, for post-mortem. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.“Police are taking the matter seriously and investigating all angles. The cause of the fire is yet to be established. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem. No application has been received from the family so far,” said Sadar SHO Ramsevak Rawat.
