Canacona: The Gaondongrim village panchayat, in its gram sabha on Sunday, resolved to pressurise govt to expedite completion of the filter plant at Gaunem dam so that villagers start getting drinking water from the reservoir. The village of Gaondongrim has been facing water scarcity for years, and although the Gaunem dam was completed at least six years ago, the people are still suffering due to the lack of required infrastructure to pump the water to the surrounding areas.The two proposed bandharas at Fulamol and Kudewada, were also discussed at the meeting. Though the projects have been tendered, certain formalities are required to be completed. It was decided that the panchayat should press the authority concerned to ensure work on the bandharas starts at the earliest.
