Will not campaign for Maharashtra zilla parishad elections, says chief minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday announced he would not campaign for the zilla parishad elections to be held on February 7.Fadnavis was slated to address 22 campaign meetings over seven days, but has decided to cancel them due to deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s demise in an air crash. Speaking to the media on Sunday, the CM said, “When you hold public rallies, political statements are bound to be made...The party has understood my stand and agrees with it.” He added that the party was capable of handling the poll campaign without him.

Elections are being held to 12 zilla parishads and 125 panchayat samitis on February 7. Results will be announced on February 9.
