Prayagraj: Bike service is a hit at Magh Mela, with over 3.24 lakh riders opting for it. The Mela administration launched this innovative transportation initiative, partnering with Rapido, to ease crowd movement. A whopping 20,000 bike taxi captains have been deployed, and canopies have been set up at two dozen locations for bookings.Altogether 35,286 visitors have used the pollution-free golf cart service so far, with 20 electric carts plying the mela area. However, the footfall has already crossed 18 crore.Officials said providing convenient transportation for visitors arriving in the mela area was a priority for the administration, and several innovative initiatives were launched.They said to ensure convenient transportation to devotees arriving from various cities and rural areas across the country, the Magh Mela administration has launched a bike taxi service for the first time. Prayagraj divisional commissioner Saumya Agarwal said that two-wheelers were more convenient for reaching the Mela area. Considering this, the mela administration signed an MOU with Rapido. Agarwal said the usefulness of this service could be gauged by the fact that, so far, 3,24,832 visitors have used it for the Magh Mela.A pollution-free golf cart service also made its debut at Magh Mela, offering eco-friendly rides for pilgrims and tourists. A total 20 electric carts (11- and 16-seater) are plying, catering to elderly, kids, and differently-abled visitors. Over 35,000 have already used this green transport option.
