The Meta-owned instant messaging platform may soon bring a new feature related to calling. A new dialer button has been spotted on the call tab on the beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It is speculated that this feature will make WhatsApp calling more convenient, allowing users to make calls directly from the app without switching to the system dialer and without saving the contact on the Android smartphone.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the new in-app dialer may appear as a floating action button (FAB) in the call tab. With this, users can take advantage of WhatsApp calling even on numbers that are not saved on the smartphone. It is being said that this feature has been seen in WhatsApp’s Android beta app version 2.24.13.17.
It is speculated that it will also offer the functionality to check if a given number is registered on WhatsApp or not. The feature tracker suggested that the new in-app dialer is available to select users who are registered with the Google Play Beta program as beta testers of the WhatsApp for Android app. However, the feature was not visible on some of our team’s devices, which are on the latest beta version, at the time of writing.
This reportedly enables the development of more dynamic animations built on motion graphic design software such as Adobe After Effects for native rendering on mobile devices.
