Wai jewellery store owner found dead in city hotel

Pune: A 27-year-old jewellery store owner from Wai was found dead in a hotel off Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, near the Camp area, on Saturday afternoon. The discovery followed a missing person complaint lodged by his family with the Wai police in Satara district.According to the Bund Garden police, the deceased checked into the hotel approximately at 1 am on Saturday. When the hotel staffers knocked on his room around 1pm the next day, he failed to respond or open the door. Hotel staffers alerted the police, who subsequently broke into the room.“The man was found hanging from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to Sassoon General Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” a police official stated. Based on the preliminary examination of the scene, investigators have classified the death as a suicide.The Bund Garden police suspect that the deceased may have been under significant distress due to recent business losses.
