VMC raises charges for several civic facilities

Vadodara: While the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has avoided proposing any hike in taxes in its 2026-27 budget, it has increased charges for several civic facilities and revised various fees paid by citizens for different services.The revised schedule of charges and fees, along with changes proposed, has been submitted as an annexure to the budget. Since the list of chargeable services is extensive, the civic body has issued a separate document detailing the revisions.In the proposed budget, the administration has suggested higher charges for water and drainage connections. Several fees linked to building permission processes have also been increased.VMC has also revised upwards the charges for its auditoriums, amphitheatre, community halls and art gallery. Fees collected for deploying fire officials for lectures and demonstrations have been hiked as well. The civic body will also charge more for water sample testing.In addition, VMC will begin charging fees for library forms, membership and renewals. Charges for using civic swimming pools have also been increased.Contractors and vendors will have to pay higher registration fees, while the tender fee for tenders floated by existing contractors has also been raised.
